Holmberg Musical Clocks & Pipe Organs

The NEW Model H–27 Holmberg Musical Clock

Designed as a table model, with the control panel on the reverse, the newest HOLMBERG MUSICAL CLOCK joins our series of now famous organ clocks.

The new styling of the Model H–27 incorporates more than two octaves of the most beautiful wood flute pipes, beautiful visually and tonally.

These 27 chromatic notes play the music of the Masters at the exact compass of their compositions. The organ pipes are scaled, voiced, and regulated to perform with the same sound that you would expect to hear from the console of a fine pipe organ.

The organ pipes are constructed of solid Honduran mahogany, from logarithmic scales halving on the 22nd note. Sounding with low cut-ups from a wind pressure of 1 1/2 inches w.g. The mouths are cut in the Germany style, and as specified in several of Audsley’s great works, were always the favorite form of the German Masters. The favored flute tone for centuries, and favored today, heard in the finest instruments in the world, old and new.

Complementing the natural finish of the organ pipes, the casework designed for this instrument is 3 inches thick of solid Honduran mahogany at the base. The three matched upper panels of 4 quarter figure, are an especially selected harvest from the dividing crotch of an exotic tree, such as olive, Carpathian Elm, mahogany, etc. The top of the instrument is also solid mahogany, 1 1/4 inches thick. The casework is prepared with a medium mahogany filler and stain, and finished in satin lacquer.

The mechanism that plays the compositions is the well known and proven low pressure electro-pneumatic chestwork of the Holmberg Organ Company, designed in 1953 with expansion chambers for use in modern church organs. The adoption of this mechanism to the Holmberg Music Clock fifteen years ago is the key to the performance of the highly ornamented, lightening fast music composed by several Masters for the organ clock over two hundred years ago.

A set of solid chime rods completes the musical hardware of this instrument. Imported from Germany, they allow a full 4/4 Westminster performance, plus hour strike.
